Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Crisis Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical Surgical nursing on the night shift. This is a 91-day contract position working 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with weekly pay of $1,871.42.

Role Expectations:

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:6–7 adults and geriatrics with general med/surg conditions
• Charge nurse role required for night travelers
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
• Perform wound vac dressing changes, manage high-flow oxygen, and provide occasional BiPap support
• Manage insulin and heparin drips independently
• Use PYXIS and EPIC systems with SBAR communication protocols
• Assignment to Inclement Weather/Storm/Hurricane Team required
• Attend monthly unit team meetings

Scheduling & Availability:

• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must work holidays and 2 of 3 major holidays
• Call required if placed on call for prescheduled shifts
• Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved with restrictions

Requirements:

• NC or Compact license required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• BCLS certification required
• EPIC experience required
• EKG testing required prior to start
• Navy scrubs required (not provided)
• First-time travelers accepted

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPI certification
• Charge nurse experience

Unit census is approximately 43 patients. You will receive 24 hours of orientation. Be prepared for possible COVID patient care assignments. Start date is June 22, 2026.
