PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule, 3x12-hour shifts with rotating start times of 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM or 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM as needed
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• On-call required: 24 hours of call per 6-week schedule period as needed
• No weekend requirements
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift nurses are expected to pre-op patients for first cases from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM when no patients are in the PACU
• Float within service line as needed to meet facility requirements
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; critical care or Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Manage complicated postoperative patients including those with multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Care for surgical patients including GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive procedures, bariatric, and some ENT cases
• Manage pre-op and post-IR procedure patients as needed
• Proficiency in IV vasopressors, care of ventilated patients, dysrhythmia recognition and management, and starting and maintaining IVs required
• Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Charting system: Epic (required)
• Dress code: Navy scrubs
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, with proficiency in ventilators, IV starts, telemetry, and critical care
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract period
