About this role

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 91-day travel assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week on an every-other-weekend schedule, earning $2,384.64 weekly. Start date: July 6, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide intermediate-level care in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) setting. Your patient population includes downgraded CVICU patients and those requiring step-down care. You will support thoracic programs, electrophysiology, cath lab, and structural heart procedures. Common diagnoses include cath lab patients, CVAs, CHF, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, and cardiac or vascular-related conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (or 1:3 for post-surgical patients in their first 24 hours)
  • Titrate vasoactive drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem, and blood pressure management medications
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Float to same-level and lower-acuity units as needed
  • Chart in EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with this patient population
  • Valid driver's license (required at submission)
  • Must be located outside a 50-mile radius and not employed by CommonSpirit facilities

Additional Requirements

You must pass an open-book orientation exam on Friday with a 90% score. Unit-specific orientation consists of 1–2 shifts tailored to your experience level. Navy blue scrubs are required; artificial nails are prohibited and refusal to remove them will result in contract termination. BSN is not required for this position.
