ED RN Night Shift Job in Carlsbad, NM

Carlsbad Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department on a travel assignment. You will provide direct patient care in a Level 3 Trauma setting, working 12.5-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM for 91 days beginning July 6, 2026.

Assignment Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week at $2,426 weekly pay
• Patient ratio: 4:1 in the Emergency Department
• Floating and on-call required with a minimum 2-hour notice prior to shift start
• Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved
• Maximum 1 RTO per 6-week schedule; RTO blackout dates apply for 1 summer and 1 winter holiday dependent on department needs

Requirements

• Current RN license
• 2+ years of experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC
• NRP preferred
• Full uniform required

Responsibilities

• Provide shift accountability for Emergency Room patient care utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for safe delivery of care
• Delegate patient care priorities based on education and experience of available staff
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education
• Apply knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care
