Description
Opportunity:
Registered Nurse - PACU
Job Details:
• 13-week travel contract with potential for extension
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• 5x7.5 schedule, 37.5 hours per week
• Weekends are not required
• Minimum 1 year of Ambulatory PACU experience required
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Epic documentation system experience preferred but not required
• Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Active New York State RN License required
• Experience in Ambulatory/Outpatient and Phase I PACU settings required
• Pre-Op and Post-Op care experience required
• Cardiac monitoring experience required, including dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Experience with hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols, insulin administration, and IV insertion and maintenance required
• Surgical experience required in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and urology cases
• Medication administration experience required including emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
• Anesthesia recovery experience required including local anesthesia, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia, and post-epidural management
• Pre-operative responsibilities include assessments, patient education, medication administration, review of History & Physical, obtaining operative/procedural consents, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and medication reconciliation
• Post-operative responsibilities include pre/post endoscopy care, pre/post operative care, and discharge instructions
• Must be proficient in isolation precautions and PPE, Malignant Hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, and Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS)
