About this role
Children's Medical Center Dallas is seeking a Medical Assistant for a 364-day travel assignment beginning June 15, 2026. You will work 3x12 day shifts, earning $1,620 weekly.
Role Overview
You will provide direct medical care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU across our Dallas and Plano campuses. Your responsibilities include patient monitoring, vital sign assessment, and support with advanced procedures under physician supervision. You may float between both locations as needed.
Schedule & Logistics
- 3x12 day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Self-scheduling in 4-week blocks with a minimum of 6 shifts per block
- Weekend, night, and holiday work shared equally among team members
- In-house night call responsibilities shared among oriented staff
- Hours not guaranteed during orientation week or when the unit is closed
- No orientation offered the last Mondays of the month
Patient Assignment
- Dallas PICU: 4–6 patients per day shift
- Plano PICU: 6–8 patients per day shift
- Night call includes all patients assigned at checkout plus new admissions
Required Qualifications
- Allied Health Professional credential as Medical Assistant
- Current Texas license and certifications: PAC-PA, BLS, PALS
- NRP certification (will review candidates without; must obtain before assignment)
- Critical care experience required—PICU, CICU, CVICU, NICU, or ER background
- Demonstrated competency with arterial line placement, central venous line placement, chest tube placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, and PICC placement
- Master's degree required
Clinical Focus
You will care for critically ill pediatric patients presenting with single and multi-organ illness, working as part of a collaborative PICU team committed to 24/7/365 coverage.
