RN - Med Surg Adult
Job Details:
• Provide patient care based on established standards of care, protocols, and policies
• Deliver individualized patient care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard
• Conduct patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn
• Collaborate in discharge planning incorporating appropriate support systems and resources
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by other team members
• Prioritize patient care and seek assistance from appropriate resources as needed
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of patient data and therapeutic interventions
• Give comprehensive reports to healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy according to physician orders
• Assess patient pain levels using numerical pain scale and reassess effectiveness of pain control
• Complete medication reconciliation documentation for attending physicians
• Interpret and document cardiac monitoring including rate, rhythm, and configuration
• Participate actively in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for care planning and coordination
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results
• Provide ongoing assessment and teaching to surgical patients and families
• Utilize pain management devices and other techniques for proper pain relief
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment including traction devices, feeding pumps, and chest tubes
• Graduate of accredited nursing school required
• MOAB class required within 60 days of hire
• 1 year med-surge experience preferred
• Previous telemetry experience preferred
• Current Massachusetts RN License required
• ACLS certification upon hire OR active BLS card with ACLS obtained within 60 days
