Opportunity:

Medical Laboratory - Lab Manager, Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Job Details:

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all Clinical Laboratory functions including staffing, training, and scheduling
• Develop and implement operating policies and procedures that meet licensure and regulatory requirements
• Develop and manage a comprehensive annual budget using cost-effective management techniques
• Establish and monitor performance standards among all Laboratory staff and conduct 6-month and annual performance evaluations
• Improve staff performance through ongoing counseling, coaching, delegation, and feedback
• Plan and coordinate staff development, continuing education, and in-service training
• Maintain accurate quality control documentation and establish systems to verify test accuracy
• Supervise daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory including maintaining PAR levels
• Evaluate new testing methods and instrumentation prior to implementation
• Ensure laboratory coverage 24/7, including arranging coverage when staff call in sick
• Consult with other departments to collaborate on patient care and performance improvement activities
• Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and other regulatory requirements
• Ensure patient and employee confidentiality at all times
• Resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level utilizing the grievance process as required
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry required
• California licensure as a Medical Technologist or specialty licensure in Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Microbiology required
• Certification preferred
• Proficiency in use of laboratory equipment and testing required
• Basic computer knowledge required
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing required; additional languages preferred
