PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Self-assisted scheduling through Optilink scheduled in 6-week periods
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise 1:5
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Must have Cardiac PCU experience and be comfortable with 1:5 ratios
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
• EPIC experience required
• Use of Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Nurse Assistants available 24/7; RN Secretary available 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
• Primary focus on cardiac patients including Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, management of cardiac drips (no titration), management of vasoactive drips (no titration), procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac drips, titration of vasoactive drips, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• All RNs required to pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam regardless of specialty
• Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Subject to float to other campus locations if needed
