ICU Registered Nurse Job in Boone, NC

Watauga Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit in Boone, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 6, 2026, paying $2,203.20 weekly.

Schedule & Location

• 3x12 hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Two weekends per month required
• Must reside more than 40 miles from the facility

Role Details

Your home unit is the standard ICU with required floating to IMCU and Med-Surg based on patient volume. ICU patient ratios are 1:2 (ratios may vary when floating). You will care for adult and pediatric patients; pediatric patients are not redirected to other units.

Required Experience & Credentials

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• EPIC electronic health record experience and proficiency
• Current NC license or Multistate license
• Valid driver's license for address verification
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications (all AHA certified)

Essential Clinical Skills

• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Central line management
• Titration of vasoactive drips
• ABG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Willingness to float to other units as needed

Dress Code

All white or all navy scrubs required.

You will be part of a dedicated critical care team supporting complex patient populations. This assignment offers the opportunity to practice acute care nursing in a community hospital setting while maintaining your clinical skills across multiple unit types.
