Respiratory Therapist Job in Gardner, MA

Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for an urgent-need position. You will work 3 shifts of 12 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning May 27, 2026, with weekly pay of $1,971.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care, or eligible
• Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• NRP certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PALS certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
• Prior respiratory therapy experience
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities:

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and oxygen therapy
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling per hospital policy
• Conduct pulse oximetry and pulmonary function testing following ATS standards
• Perform EKGs and assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy
• Set up and assess mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, and CPAP units
• Implement VAP bundle components consistently per protocol
• Provide patient education on cardiopulmonary medications and equipment
• Document care plans and any adverse or unexpected events

Physical Requirements:

You will occasionally lift 20–50 pounds and frequently lift 10–25 pounds.
