Medical Technologist Job in Washington, IA

Washington County Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Medical Technologist for their medical laboratory. You will perform laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, following established guidelines and physician orders while maintaining strict quality control standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform laboratory tests in a timely fashion and report all results accurately in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
• Perform, record, and analyze quality control data to maintain accuracy and precision of test results
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiate corrective action
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, and correct problems using scientific principles
• Operate instruments using established protocols and quality control checks, including preventive and corrective maintenance
• Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test analyses
• Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from acceptable laboratory guidelines
• Evaluate new testing methodology and contribute to writing technical laboratory procedures
• Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, a related field in science, or equivalent experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment are essential. Knowledge of all areas in the laboratory is required.

Preferred qualifications: Certification by ASCP or AMT. Knowledge of computerized document systems.

Position details: This is a 91-day travel assignment working 3x12 night shifts at Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington, IA. Weekly pay is $2,191. Start date is November 6, 2026.
