Job Details:

• Pediatric CVICU/Cardiac experience required for this position
• Tuesday start dates
• Work in an acuity adaptive model unit caring for both ICU and step-down level patients for continuity
• Unit located on the 3rd floor of the Children's Tower
• 27-bed unit with a staff of 90
• Patient ratios of 1:2, 1:1, and at times 1:3
• Day shift includes 2 charges for each unit (ICU and step-down) and 1 PCT, with RNs based on census and acuity needs
• Night shift includes 2 charges for each unit (ICU and step-down) and 1 PCT, with RNs based on census and acuity needs
• Rotating weekends required (day shift Saturday and Sunday, night shift Friday and Saturday)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Equipment used includes IV pumps (Medfusion and Baxter), Hillrom beds, hard cribs and cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS machines, and Servo U vents
• EMR system: Meditech
• Scrub color: Royal blue
• Minimum 1 year of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience as a staff nurse required
• 3-4 contracts in a dedicated Pediatric CICU required
• Experience caring for patients with congenital heart disease and post-operative management of CHD patients required
• Experience with management of arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines required
• Preferred: 2 or more years of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse
• Preferred: At least 1 year of experience with neonatal cardiac patients (pre-op and post-op management)
• Preferred: 2 or more years of pediatric cardiac experience in step-down or cardiology floor
• Typical procedures include central line and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation/extubation, post-op recovery of general and cardiac procedures, sternal closures, codes, ECMO cannulation and decannulation, CRRT, and manual PD
• Float areas include PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, and pediatric oncology
• Required certifications: PALS, BLS, ACLS
