Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Cardiac experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required
• Must be familiar with chest tubes, drips, and half med/surg half step down
• Experience with cardiac rehab and pre/post procedures as well as cardiac stabilizations required
• Work in a mixed Cardiovascular floor with 24 beds - 12 Step-Down and 12 Med-Surg
• Must have cardiac unit with step down experience
• May be asked to interpret EKGs, monitor rhythms and rates
• Collaborate with cardiac rehab, education, and discharge planning teams
• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
• Assist physician in examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients and intervene when necessary
• Administer medications as prescribed and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Interact with patients and families to share care plans during hospitalization and at time of discharge
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
• Delegate tasks to support staff as needed
