PACU RN Job in Hilo, HI

You will provide comprehensive care for patients throughout their post-anesthesia recovery, including pre-operative assessment, Phase I, and Phase II recovery. Your responsibilities include monitoring incision sites, assessing body temperature, and tracking vital indicators of patient stability or potential complications.

Shift Details

• Rotating shifts between 8, 10, and 12 hours
• Days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Shifts may vary between ASU and PACU units
• On-call duties 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call shifts
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Clinical Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and Phase I recovery protocols
• Apply critical care skills to monitor and support post-surgical patients
• Operate equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Hawaii, active by assignment start date
• Valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Valid ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN in a hospital setting (ER or ICU experience may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS credential from the American Heart Association (recommended and may be required)
• Specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC (preferred and may be required)
