ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratio of 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• May be expected to take overflow patients as needed
• Float within hospital within scope of practice
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, with at least 2 of those years as a staff ICU nurse
• Valid Maryland or Compact nursing license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG, 4-hour annual stroke CEUs
• Required skills include: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, CRRT experience, blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, management of patient with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
• Special procedures include bedside tracheostomy insertion, central line insertion, and Trialysis catheter insertion
• Special equipment includes CRRT Nexstage, Arctic Sun, Baxter Sterling, and Pupilometer
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as septic shock, post-arrest, DKA/HHNK, overdose, surgical post-op, TPA/stroke, hemorrhagic shock, and ETOH
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
