Med Surg RN Job in Petoskey, MI

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit at McLaren Northern Michigan. This is a 3x12 night shift position with an every-other-weekend schedule and no on-call responsibilities.

The Role

You'll care for a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients in a fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to develop individualized patient care plans, provide patient-centered care focused on safety and quality outcomes, and participate in Unit Based Council shared governance activities. Your work will utilize clinical pathways, patient education, and interactive communication in patient care.

Requirements

• Current Michigan nursing license with LARA and Nursys verification
• 2+ years of straight medical surgical nursing experience (no float, SDU/TELE experience)
• Level I or Level II trauma experience
• BLS (AHA) certification
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application
• Travel experience preferred

Position Details

This 91-day assignment begins June 15, 2026. You'll earn $2,436.48 weekly. The facility maintains a strict attendance policy—three instances of absence or being more than 20 minutes late results in immediate termination.
