Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• 13-week contract
• On-call required 1-2 nights per week and every 4th weekend
• Serve as primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures
• Scrub into cases and ensure instruments and supplies are available for scheduled procedures
• Set up cases ensuring all instruments are thoroughly sterilized and sterile field is maintained
• Alert circulating nurse of any identified risks or variances from standard operating procedures
• Pass instruments and assist physician as needed during surgical cases
• Assist physician with cutting suture material and applying electrocautery to clamps under direct surgeon supervision
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts throughout procedures
• Assist with draping and patient positioning in collaboration with circulating RN
• Perform post-case cleaning duties including gross decontamination of instruments
• Break down instruments for further cleaning in Central Sterile Processing and follow all standards for instrument transport and return
• Notify appropriate leader of any damaged instruments at end of case
• Ensure surgical suite is disinfected and fully stocked for the next procedure
• Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safe practices in the OR
• Complete age-specific annual assessment of competency documents
