Histology Technician

Opportunity:

Laboratory - Histology Tech

Job Details:

• Work day shifts Monday through Friday, 5x8-hour shifts from 3:00 AM to 11:30 AM with holiday rotation
• Occasional weekend requirement with on-call coverage on weekends once every 2 months
• No floating required - position works on one campus only
• Guaranteed hours: facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• 5 years of full-time histology experience required
• Epic Beaker experience required
• Performs routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry
• Performs quality control on completed slides
• Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results
• Records observations from tests and documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab
• Complies with established laboratory policies and procedures
• Required certifications: BLS, HT(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or other related scientific discipline, QIHC, and 5 years of experience with IHC and Special Stains
• Scrub color: Wine
• Charting system: Epic
• Parking cost: Nights and weekends only with a one-time payment of $20 for a parking pass
