ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as an RN in our 27-bed emergency department. You'll work three 12-hour night shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM over a 91-day assignment starting May 4, 2026.

The Role

You'll provide direct patient care in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with patient ratios of 4–6:1. Night shift staffing consists of one charge nurse, five RNs, and 2–3 medics. You will not float to other units. Procedures you'll perform include rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, psychiatric patient care, and facility transfers.

Requirements

• RN degree
• Minimum 2–3 years of ER experience
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Experience managing patient ratios of 5:1 preferred

Schedule & Expectations

You'll work three nights per week. Weekend coverage includes four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday nights) within each four-week scheduling period. There are no on-call responsibilities. You'll use the Meditech EMR system and wear navy blue or white scrabs.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $1,971.
