ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required with no exceptions
• Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV)
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of position with a maximum of 2 attempts
• Pass/fail Simulation Lab on Day 1 of orientation
• Work in Surgical ICU - Trauma Neuro Surgery unit (32 beds) and Medical ICU - Medical Cardiac and Overflow unit (36 beds + 12 bed overflow)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1
• Titrate drips including Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Precedex, Morphine, Dilaudid, Ketamine, Rocuronium, Levophed, Vasopressin, Cardene, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, and Insulin
• Operate respiratory therapy equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s BiPap, and Airvo ventilators
• Required to interpret own cardiac monitor strips using GE monitors (no monitor techs on unit)
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing shifts as needed for unit needs
• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; night shift weekends are Friday-Saturday, day shift weekends are Saturday-Sunday
• May have 1 holiday off per assignment
• No additional call or standby shifts required; however, may be low censused up to 3 times per contract depending on unit needs
• Float to telemetry unit with 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed; may also float to sister ICU units
• Scrub color: Navy
• Unit-specific orientation: 1-2 days
• Charting system: Cerner
• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS
