About this role
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for inpatient rehabilitation in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week on day shifts with alternating 8-hour schedules (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM) using block scheduling.
Clinical Focus
You will work with adult and geriatric patient populations across acute care settings including orthopedics, transplant, med-surg, neurology, and ICU. Your patient load is approximately 20 patients per day. Required clinical skills include cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, neurology, oncology, and orthopedics.
Core Competencies
- Adaptive and assistive devices, including crutches, walkers, gait belts, and Hoyer lifts
- Range of motion therapy (AROM, AAROM, PROM) and strength testing
- Bed alarms, specialty beds, soft/hard collars, and prosthetics (lower extremity)
- Body mechanics, fall prevention, and environmental barrier identification
- Discharge planning, goal setting, and plan of care development
- Arousal, attention, and sensory response assessment
- Pain assessment, skin integrity monitoring, and vital sign monitoring
- Supplemental oxygen delivery and time management
Requirements
- Valid DC state license in hand at time of submission
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years
- Minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed
- Two supervisory references required, including one from your most recent assignment
- Preferred experience with Cerner charting system
- Preferred experience with community hospitals, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II facilities
- Previous charge experience preferred
Assignment Details
This is a 91-day assignment beginning August 10, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,998. No requested time off is permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment. You may request no more than 7 days of time off per 13-week contract period.
