About this role

You will work as a Registered Nurse in a float pool position across multiple intensive care and intermediate care units at University of Virginia Medical Center. This is a night shift role with 3x12-hour shifts, offering 36 or 48 hours per week. The assignment runs for 91 days, beginning July 20, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,125.44.

Unit Rotation

You will rotate across various ICU and intermediate care settings, including Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit, Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit, Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit, Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit, and ED Boarders. You must adhere to the facility's float policy and be willing to float within your scope of practice. Patient ratios are 2:1 on nights.

Requirements

  • Valid Virginia nursing license (pending license accepted at submission; must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • RN degree (BSN preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Travel healthcare experience
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience
  • Ability to care for ventilated patients and interpret/manage dysrhythmias
  • References required; copy of required certifications must accompany application

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC or CCRN certification
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, ICP monitoring, procedural sedation, pulmonary artery lines, and Level 1 Trauma

Patient Population

You will care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. You will work every other weekend and every other holiday. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
