Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory

Job Details:

• Work night shifts from 9:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Required to work every other weekend and holiday shifts
• Minimum of three years phlebotomy experience required
• Proficiently perform phlebotomy on diverse patient populations to obtain blood specimens
• Use Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for order processing and patient registration
• Perform patient registration, payment collection, and data entry of demographic and insurance information
• Answer and screen telephone calls in professional manner
• Accurately identify patients using two patient identifiers
• Collect various specimens including throat swabs, MRSA swabs, urine samples, heel sticks, finger sticks, blood cultures, and blood bank specimens
• Perform arterial punctures on adults (Rockford Phlebotomy only)
• Conduct glucose tolerance and hormone stimulation specimen collection
• Perform specialized sample collections including breath alcohol testing and various drug screens
• Drive laboratory-owned or personal vehicle to client sites, patient homes, or facilities for specimen collection
• Perform limited waived testing including blood glucose monitoring, rapid flu and strep tests, mono testing, and pregnancy testing
• May be required to perform electrocardiogram tracings (ten lead and pediatric EKGs) at legacy Rockford locations
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique and appropriate procedures
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of laboratory supplies
