Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for medical-surgical nursing on a 13–26 week travel contract. You will work 4 days per week, 12-hour night shifts, with a patient ratio of 1:5–6 and the flexibility to accept 36 or 48 hours weekly.

Role responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in a medical-surgical setting with floating required within the facility
• Monitor patients on telemetry; manage IVs, wound care, and blood product administration
• Perform chest tube management, isolation precautions, and assist with medical and surgical procedures
• Care for patients with diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, surgical recovery, renal failure, hypertension, and cellulitis
• Collaborate with IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Use Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR documentation systems

Requirements:

• RN license (current and unencumbered)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• BCLS certification required prior to start
• EKG testing required before beginning assignment
• Available for unit orientation (24 hours) and hospital orientation during week one
• Must attend classes daily during the first week
• Navy or white scrubs required

Scheduling details:

• Weekend requirement: 12–16 shifts per contract
• Maximum 7 consecutive days without time off (RTO)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Required to work Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events

Start date is June 29, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,560.90.
