Histology Technician Job in Abington, PA

Jefferson Abington Hospital is seeking a Histology Technician for a 91-day travel assignment. You will work a 5x8 day shift schedule with variable scheduling and possible Saturday shifts required.

About the Role

You will float between embedding, cutting, and staining benches, processing surgical, biopsy, and anatomical tissues for light and fluorescent microscope slide review. Your responsibilities include:

• Operating automated and manual microtomes and automatic tissue processors
• Embedding, cutting, and staining tissues with precision microtomy techniques
• Performing immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining and special stains
• Applying hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and microwave processing methods
• Processing calcified and decalcified tissue, paraffin wax sections, and core biopsies
• Embedding GI specimens, large specimens, skin techniques, and small specimens
• Handling shave biopsies and curettings
• Working with formalin, reagents, dehydration agents, and clearing agents
• Charting in EPIC system

Requirements

• 1 year of experience as a Histology Technician
• ASCP-HT certification preferred
• First time travelers accepted
• No holiday requirement
