Med Surg RN Job in Asheville, NC

Join Mission Hospital's J6 Orthopedics unit as a Registered Nurse on a 91-day travel assignment. You'll work the night shift (6:45 PM–7:15 AM) on a 3x12 schedule, earning $2,102.40 per week.

About the Unit

The J6 Orthopedics unit is located on the 6th floor of the main building and consists of 32 individual rooms. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1–2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are 6:1 on night shift, with occasional stretches to 7:1.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and wound management including dressing changes and suture/staple removal
• Perform clinical procedures such as Foley catheter insertion, NG tube placement, and wound vac maintenance and removal
• Operate equipment including walkers, bedside commodes, bladder scanners, CPM machines, sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Lift, Maxi Move, vital sign machines, hover mats, bair huggers, and wheelchairs
• Document care in the Cerner EMR system
• Float to other Med-Surg units as needed to support facility operations
• Maintain every other weekend availability

Requirements

• Current North Carolina nursing license
• BLS certification
• RN degree
• Orthopedic experience preferred
• Hospital experience preferred

Work Environment

You'll work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced acute-care setting. RNs wear navy scrubs. The unit operates with strong staffing structure to support your success and patient safety.
