Laboratory - Histology Tech

Job Details:

• Work 2 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Experience with tissue processing for MOHs procedures preferred
• Required certifications: ASCP-HT, BLS
• ASCP-HTL certification preferred
• Indiana state license must be in hand prior to submission; pending licenses not accepted
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Required case types include: excision specimens, formalin, frozen sections/tissues, incisional biopsies, shave biopsies, methods of freezing, and reagents types/components
• Must be proficient in cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat, cutting blocks, histology cassettes, microtomy of frozen sections, and precision microtomy
• Must be able to prepare slides for staining, perform basic dye stains including Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain, and apply coverslip
• Preferred experience includes commercial or reference laboratories, hospital clinical laboratory, and aqueous techniques
• Special equipment used includes cryostat, stainer, microscope, and EMR
• Special procedures include MOHs procedures and skin cancer cases
• Patient age groups served: adults and geriatrics
• Floating within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals is required
