Opportunity:

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Rotating schedule primarily Monday through Friday on day shift with potential rotation to weekends and night shifts as needed
• Pre-op shifts start at 5:30 AM; PACU shifts start between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM
• 1.0 FTE may be scheduled four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts per week
• 0.9 FTE may be scheduled three 12-hour shifts or four 9-hour shifts per week
• Call requirement varies per schedule, typically around 20-24 hours per month on weeknights and 20 hours per month on weekends; employees select their own call shifts based on availability
• Call response time required within 1 hour
• May be required to work one holiday shift and one holiday call shift per season (Summer/Winter)
• Up to 2 shift cancellations permitted per 13-week contract
• Unit consists of 20 Pre-op bays and 24 PACU/Phase II bays
• All staff rotate throughout Pre-op, PACU, Phase II, and boarders
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, PACU 1:2, Phase II 1:3
• Common cases include adult and pediatric general surgery, plastics, dental/ENT/maxillofacial, urology, neurosurgery, surgical oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedic/ortho trauma, joint replacements, OB/GYN, thoracic, regional acute pain/blocks/epidurals, and bariatrics
• ICU patients may recover in PACU depending on throughput and capacity
• Experience with RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPap required
• RNs are required to read strips
• Prior PACU experience required; Level 1 trauma PACU experience preferred
• May float to other pre/post departments within the hospital
• Hospital-provided scrubs required
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• BSN not required; active RN license required
