NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

Job Details:

• 13-week contract duration
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday requirement: one summer, one winter eve, and one winter night to be assigned based on need
• No floating required
• Patient ratio of 2:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Self-scheduling
• 24 orientation hours
• 1 year of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Scrubs provided
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Charting system experience required; any system accepted
• 8-bed Level III NICU with in-house Neonatologist available 24/7
• Care for neonatal patient population including prematurity, RDS, transient tachypnea, neonatal sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and neonatal hypoglycemia
• Required skills include: blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia management, phototherapy, breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk, sepsis workup, administration of blood and blood products, starting and maintaining IVs, neonatal dosage calculations, antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, assist with lumbar puncture, APGAR scoring, developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, Bubble CPAP, suctioning (ETT, NT), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), management of chest tubes, meconium aspiration, respiratory distress syndrome, and Vapotherm
• NICU team including neonatologist and NICU RN attends high-risk deliveries
