Medical Lab Technician Job in Charleston, SC

You'll work nights as a Medical Laboratory Technician at MUSC Health Charleston, a leading academic medical center. This is a 3x10 night shift position (9:00 PM to 7:30 AM) on a 7 on / 7 off schedule with every other weekend requirement. There is no on-call duty, and the facility may call off approximately 1 shift per 2 weeks.

Your Responsibilities:

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine and specialized laboratory tests
• Execute quality control procedures, troubleshoot errors, and perform maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Recognize and resolve computer data problems and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
• Perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment to ensure optimal function
• Communicate technical information clearly to medical and non-medical personnel
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory values and model professional Standards of Behavior
• Participate in continuing education and professional development

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent specialty lab certification
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience preferred
• Chemistry experience required; Hematology and/or Chemistry experience highly preferred

Compensation & Duration:
