Med Surg RN Job in Big Spring, TX

Shannon Medical Center in Big Spring is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 13, 2026.

Assignment Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical
• Shift: 3x12 nights on a 36/48 hour alternating block schedule
• Weekly pay: $1,995.84
• Duration: 91 days
• Patient ratio: 5 patients per nurse

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Prior travel healthcare experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Must reside more than 110 miles from the facility
• Weekend coverage required

Required Skills

• IV insertion and maintenance, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy
• Port access and management
• Medication administration including heparin, insulin, and blood products
• Oxygen delivery: nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP management
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management (non-titrating)
• PCA pump operation
• Telemetry monitoring
• Isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Rapid response and code team participation

Patient Population

You will care for patients across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.

Support Services

The facility provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy consultation.
