Job Details:

• Night shift position on a Medical Surgical/Oncology unit
• Target patient ratio of 1:6, with ratios potentially higher during increased census periods
• Every other weekend required
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
• 24-hour orientation (2 shifts)
• Call required if called off on a pre-scheduled shift; called out shifts must have make-up shifts rescheduled
• Float required to similar units and alternate care locations including inpatient holding in the ED or any alternate medical patient care location
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings required
• Primarily Medical Surgical patients with Oncology history
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, and Heparin drips
• Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection required
• Daily census of 42 patients across 42 beds
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills: Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Surgical drains, Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
• Oncology certification preferred; Charge Nurse experience and CPI preferred
• Unit systems include PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR
• Scrubs: Navy Blue and White
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
