About this role

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist at Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. This is a 91-day travel assignment with evening shifts Monday through Friday, 10:45 AM to 7:15 PM, including call requirements. You will earn $1,776 per week.

In this role, you will function under the direction of a registered professional nurse in moderate to high acuity surgical cases. Your responsibilities include:

  • Prepare the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment
  • Maintain sterile field and patient safety standards throughout all procedures
  • Gather required instruments and supplies and serve as surgical assistant as needed
  • Set up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications or solutions
  • Perform surgical counts with the circulator and actively participate in procedure pause and time-out
  • Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures and maintain an organized back table and operative field
  • Anticipate surgeon and healthcare team needs throughout each procedure
  • Prepare sterile dressings and assist with post-procedure specimen handling
  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking of operating rooms and perioperative areas
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards at all times
  • Mentor, precept, or train students and new employees as needed

You must hold current national certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and maintain BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional certifications such as TS-C (NCCT), CSFA, or CSA are required. You will maintain 20 hours of continuing education related to the field per evaluation period. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, detail orientation, multitasking ability, and the capacity to function effectively in stressful and emergency situations are essential for success in this position.

A high school diploma or GED is required; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program is preferred. You will gain experience in orthopedic, vascular, and neuro surgical procedures.
