Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 4x12 night shifts, available for 36 or 48 hours per week. Weekly pay is $2,782.43 with guaranteed hours.

Unit Overview

You will care for trauma and acute care surgery patients, including geriatric trauma (age 55+), abuse and violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, falls, and surgical cases such as appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, and burns. Patient populations span adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. You will manage patients transitioning from the Emergency Department, Operating Room, or ICU. Patient ratios are 1:4-6, and you may float within the service line as needed.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• 5 years of nursing experience
• Travel healthcare experience
• Level I Trauma center experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam—Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias
• Epic charting system experience required
• Preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS, BSN, TNCC

Clinical Skills You Will Use

Medical-Surgical nursing, blood product administration, peripheral and central line management, phlebotomy, IV initiation, medication administration (insulin, PCA), spinal cord injury care, traumatic brain injury management, orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drain management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, oral suctioning, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vacs.

Equipment and Support

You will work with lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators. Interdisciplinary support is available, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams.

Schedule Details

Every other weekend is required. No on-call required. Maximum 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract. Navy blue scrubs are required.
