Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• This is a Neuro unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological patient diagnoses including CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
• Night shift position
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Contract length of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (equates to every other weekend)
• Float requirement applies - travelers float first
• Scheduling is manager-assigned (block scheduling)
• 24 hours of unit orientation provided
• Scrubs not provided - Navy Blue required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs, isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, and med/surg
• Preferred experience: Neuro experience, NIH stroke scale experience, and charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the charge nurse role
• Documentation systems used: EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• Must have a teamwork approach to patient care with a strong focus on patient safety
• Strict call-off policy in place and strongly enforced - additional RTO after booking is not permitted
