ICU Nurse Job in Winston Salem, NC

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for its intensive care unit in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026, with 3x12-hour night shifts.

Compensation and Schedule

• Weekly pay: $2,152
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Staffing ratios: 2:1, occasionally 3:1 or 1:1
• No block scheduling—schedule per unit needs
• Float requirement to other ICUs and intermediate units

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required—unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• 24-hour orientation provided

Essential Clinical Skills

• ICP monitoring and ventilator management
• Arterial line and central line care
• EVD and lumbar drain management
• BiPAP/CPAP and continuous IV sedation management
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke and post-neurosurgery management
• Traumatic brain injury and seizure care
• Arctic Sun/Zoll temperature management
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols

Documentation and Equipment

• Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
• Equipment proficiency: ventilators, PCAs, lumbar drains

Additional Information

• Scrubs not provided—navy blue, white, or combination required
• Patients include adults and geriatrics with neuroscience ICU diagnoses: stroke, seizure, and surgical neurology cases
