Radiation Therapist - Radiation Therapist

Job Details:

• Work day shifts Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Full-time position
• Deliver accurately prescribed courses of radiation therapy with minimal supervision
• Review prescriptions and diagnoses; prepare equipment including immobilization devices, treatment devices, and protection devices
• Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for each patient according to Radiation Oncologist-approved prescriptions
• Explain procedures to patients and maintain open communication during treatment
• Check for completion of dose prescriptions and signed consent forms prior to initiating treatment
• Maintain visual and audio communication with patients during treatment
• Transfer patients safely to treatment tables, giving special care to catheters and IV drips
• Monitor patients for unusual reactions and report to Radiation Oncologist
• Assist in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures
• Perform simulation procedures including proper patient and machinery positioning
• Fabricate treatment devices including lead shielding blocks as prescribed
• Accurately maintain patient treatment charts and therapeutic dosages
• Implement field or dosage changes as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist
• Participate in and document quality assurance management including weekly SSD checks and Diode readings
• Utilize IMPC for patient treatment, simulation, or CT treatment planning schedule
• Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) per standards
• Rotate on-call and weekend duty as specified by department policy and schedule
• Comply with dress code, name tag, parking, and smoking policies
• Two to five years of clinical experience preferred
• IMRT experience and LDR/HDR experience preferred
• Graduate of Committee on Allied Health Education and accredited radiology program or equivalent required
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) card required
• New Mexico state licensure required upon hire
