Medical Lab Technician

Opportunity:

MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) - Med Lab Tech

Job Details:

• Work 10-hour night shifts with 5-8 hour shifts per week (typically 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, may vary slightly)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday shifts required as scheduled with regular schedule during contract
• Strong phlebotomy skills required as phlebotomy can make up to 50% of night shift work
• Phlebotomy scope includes neonatal capillary and venous collections, blood cultures, venipunctures, and arterial blood gas (ABG preferred but not required)
• Must be a generalist covering hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, phlebotomy, and point of care testing
• Blood bank experience not required
• Hematology responsibilities include manual differentials and body fluid cell counts
• Microbiology scope limited to culture set ups and molecular platforms primarily; gram stain experience a plus
• Equipment used includes: Sysmex XN, ACL Top 350, Arkray Urinalysis, Roche Cobas 8000, Siemens Rapid Point, Bactec blood culture monitoring system, Biofire TORCH, Cepheid Gene Xpert, and Abbott ID Now
• Charting system: Epic; LIS System: Orchard Software
• Dress code: Solid colors only, preferred combination of red and black; lab coat permitted
• Training occurs during week one of contract with 40 hours on day shift, with additional days added as needed before moving to contracted schedule
• Must be within 50-mile radius
• Prior travel assignment experience and experience in facilities of similar size and pace preferred
• Required certifications: ASCP, BLS (AHA), Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via ASCP verification
