PACU Registered Nurse Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing, a Level I Trauma Center in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,318.69.

Schedule and Hours

• 4x10 day shifts: 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM or 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM
• No holidays, on-call, or weekend requirements
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center
• ICU or critical care experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• CCRN and TNCC preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Epic charting system experience required
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility

Core Clinical Skills

• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Blood product administration and phlebotomy
• IV insertion and maintenance, IV vasopressors
• ICP monitoring and care of ventilated patients
• Phase I PACU recovery with drains and vasoactive drips
• Preferred: AV fistula/shunt care, cardiac monitoring, central line management, carotid endarterectomy, endoscopic/laparoscopic procedures, neuro/spine, thoracic, and interventional radiology procedures

Unit Overview

The PACU operates 24/7 with 38 patient bays and an average daily census of 70 to 90 patients. You will recover surgical patients across neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant specialties. Approximately 80% of patients are admitted to the hospital following their procedure. The unit has its own PCT and transport team, with interdisciplinary support including respiratory services and rapid response teams. Float is limited to PACU or PreOp units only. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred.

First-time travelers are accepted. Navy blue scrubs required.
