Opportunity:

Laboratory - Medical Lab Scientist

Job Details:

• Evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) or night shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with flexible start times if working 10-hour shifts
• Training and orientation will be on day shift for the first two weeks before transitioning to contracted shift
• Every other weekend required along with 1 holiday if it falls within the contract
• Required to float between Methodist, University, and Riley hospitals
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Required certifications: ASCP-MLS required; ASCP-BB preferred
• MLTs are not eligible for this position
• Preferred charting system experience: Cerner
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required skills: Specimen processing, ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, Antibody Typing (Tube Method), Crossmatch-Immediate Spin/IgG, Electronic Crossmatch, Indirect Coombs Test
• Additional preferred skills: Automated equipment, Gel Testing Method, Modify Components, Blood Irradiation, Cord Blood Evaluation, Transfusion Reaction Workup, Rhogam Screening, Direct Coombs (DAT), Antigen Typing
• Perform routine and specialized compatibility testing as well as preparation of blood components for transfusion
• Support transfusion needs for both pediatric and adult patients across a variety of specialty services
• Preferred patient age group experience: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
