Registered Nurse - PICU @ University of Virginia Medical Center

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 13-week assignment with nights or rotating shifts
• Work 3 weekends per six-week schedule
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, may be 2:1 if high acuity
• May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Pediatric cardiac experience preferred
• 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Can submit with VA license pending, but must have license in-hand Wednesday before start date
• Nursys verification required for submittal
• Up to 40 hours of time off guaranteed, unable to approve time off first 2 weeks of contract
• Care for combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients including cardiac conditions like DORV, TOF, HLHS, and medical conditions like trauma, seizures, and post-op cases
• Work with specialized equipment including ECMO, VADs, and CRRT
• High census and high acuity unit with 25 beds and daily census of 23
• Extensive skills required including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, central line care, and pediatric dosage calculations
