PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, Wisconsin

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel contract beginning July 6, 2026, offering 3×12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week.

About the Role

You will work in a 36-bed Medical Surgical Intermediate Care unit with heavy telemetry monitoring. Your responsibilities include managing a 4:1 patient ratio, delivering primary patient care, administering insulin drips, and floating to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher-acuity areas. You will care for patients with stable weaning vents/trach, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke.

Schedule & Requirements

• Every other weekend and every other holiday requirement
• Independent work in a fast-paced environment with timely task completion
• Clinical interview required

Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License (required)
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• 2+ years experience with stepdown/intermediate/PCU experience required
• Ventilator/trach experience required
• At least 1 prior travel experience required
• ICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level II facility experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Associate degree or certificate required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Compensation & Location

Weekly pay is $2,402.64. You must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility. Any color scrubs are permitted.
