PCU Float RN Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, providing direct patient care across PCU and Medical-Surgical (MS) units on a float basis. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 6, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 4x12-hour night shifts: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Float assessments occur every 4 hours; you may relocate 2–3 times per shift
• Night float may begin at 11:00 PM
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
• One holiday per 13-week contract

Patient Care Details

• PCU average ratio: 5:1; MS average ratio: 6:1 (may flex to 7:1)
• PCU ratios may reach 1:6; CNA support not guaranteed
• Adult and geriatric populations

Clinical Skills Required

• EPIC charting experience
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central line care, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, chest tubes including Emerson/PleurEvac systems)
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titration of cardiac drips
• Rapid Response and Code team participation
• PCA and heparin protocol management
• IV insulin administration and endocrine/metabolic condition management
• Telemetry and step-down-level care background with cardiovascular experience in pre- and post-cardiac catheterization settings
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
