Med Surg Oncology RN Job in New Orleans, LA

You will care for adult patients with cancer diagnoses in a dedicated 7-bed positive pressure wing at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans. This Med Surg Oncology role focuses on hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, and gynecologic and surgical oncology patients.

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 Days
• Duration: 91 days
• Start date: September 8, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,300.40
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Float requirement, rotated with staff

Clinical Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor chemotherapy infusions
• Perform blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Manage PICC lines
• Assist with bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
• Operate Alaris IV pumps, Alaris feeding pumps, and SCD machines
• Utilize barcode medication administration integrated with Epic charting system

Support Services

You will have access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.

Requirements

• RN license: Compact or Louisiana license required upon submittal
• 2 years of experience in Med Surg Oncology specialty
• Epic charting system experience required
• BLS certification (AHA)
• ACLS certification (AHA)
• Preferred: ONS certification
• Must be located more than 65 miles from facility (address on driver's license to site address)
