Med Surg RN Job in Portsmouth, NH

You'll work as a registered nurse on the Med Surg unit at Portsmouth Regional Hospital NH. This is a 13-week travel assignment with three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), starting May 18, 2026. You'll earn $2,102.40 weekly.

Your Role

You'll provide direct patient care with a typical ratio of 1:6 patients, occasionally 1:7 during surge periods. Every other weekend is required, and you'll work rotating holidays. Self-scheduling is available, subject to leadership approval for schedule balance. You may float to the same level of care as needed within the unit.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform telemetry monitoring and EKGs as needed
• Insert foleys and manage continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Manage drains including chest tubes and Jackson-Pratt drains
• Conduct wound care and central line dressing changes
• Utilize Meditech Expanse for documentation
• Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly safety rounding, and build personal patient connections

Unit Support

A unit secretary is available on the day shift, and licensed nursing assistants (LNAs) support both day and night shifts. You'll have access to telemetry equipment and all necessary supplies for patient care procedures.

Requirements

• Active RN license at the time of submission
• Current BLS and IV Certification
• Minimum 2 years of hospital experience

Work Environment

Dress code is scrubs in any color. The unit operates with a focus on patient experience and safety protocols. You'll work in a structured environment with clear expectations for shift handoff and hourly rounding.
