NICU Registered Nurse Job in Lafayette, LA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the NICU at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts at $2,034 per week.

Role and responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to neonates and infants in a 30-bed NICU with a 1:3 patient ratio across all shifts
• Monitor and manage complex neonatal conditions including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, TTN, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, feeding difficulties, thermoregulation issues, and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome
• Administer specialized neonatal care including blood and blood products, neonatal dosage calculations, oxygen delivery systems, phototherapy, and thermoregulation management
• Assist with special procedures including umbilical lines, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, and intubation
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including oscillators, jet ventilators, bubble CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
• Float to mother-baby and pediatrics units as needed
• Every other weekend coverage required; no on-call responsibilities

Requirements:

• Valid RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
• Minimum 2 years NICU experience for previous travelers; minimum 3 years for first-time travelers
• BLS and NRP certifications (AHA required)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Reside more than 65 miles from facility (verified by driver's license address)
