About this role
You will work as a Registered Nurse in the NICU at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, caring for neonates and infants in a 46-bed unit providing NICU II, III, and IV level care with an average daily census of 30 patients.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care with a 1:3 patient ratio on all shifts
- Float to mother baby and pediatrics units as needed
- Administer blood products, manage bubble CPAP, perform central line blood draws, and assist with conscious sedation
- Provide developmental care and manage high flow nasal cannula therapy
- Perform neonatal dosage calculations and umbilical catheter management
- Work with specialized equipment including oscillator, jet ventilator, bubble CPAP, HFNC, and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
- Assist with procedures including umbilical lines, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, and intubation
- Treat patient diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, TTN, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome
- Cover every other weekend
- Participate in emergency team assignment during emergency events with expectation to remain at facility
Schedule and Duration
You will work 3x12 hour day shifts with a self-scheduling system. This is a 56-week travel assignment starting May 11, 2026. You will receive 24 hours of orientation.
Compensation
Weekly pay is $2,044.80.
Requirements
- Current RN license from Louisiana or a compact state
- 2 years of NICU experience for previous travelers or 3 years for first-time travelers
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility (no local travelers accepted)
