About this role
Altru Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This is a 12-hour shift position available for a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 3, 2026. You will earn $2,907 per week.
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatment under physician direction while delivering high-quality critical care. Your responsibilities include:
- Administering diagnostic and therapeutic treatments and assisting physicians with respiratory procedures
- Educating patients and families about their respiratory care and treatment plans
- Monitoring patients for significant changes in condition and reporting findings to the care team through appropriate documentation and communication
- Conducting pain assessments and implementing interventions according to established protocols
- Completing all required documentation, including order entry, EMR charting, medication records, and safety incident reports
- Managing patient charges and processing billing reports as needed
- Maintaining respiratory equipment through cleaning, disassembly, assembly, and preventative maintenance procedures
- Identifying equipment requiring maintenance or repair and notifying appropriate departments
- Transporting infants to and from referral health systems as needed
This position is open to Registered Respiratory Therapists with experience in either adult or neonatal (NICU) settings. You must hold a current Respiratory Therapist License from the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care. Required certifications include BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other caregivers to ensure coordinated, evidence-based patient care. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as you will document all clinical findings and interventions in the electronic medical record.
