Endoscopy RN Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy department at Mercy Hospital Downtown - Bakersfield. This is a day shift position with every other weekend requirement and first-to-float status. Shift lengths and start times vary and are confirmed at the time of placement.

Your responsibilities include covering all three phases of endoscopy procedures: pre-procedure, active procedure, and recovery. You will manage recovery from moderate anesthesia (MAC) sedation and procedural sedation. With MAC cases, you will circulate; with procedural sedation cases, you will work in either a circulator or sedator role. You may also perform bedside procedures in the ER and ICU when needed.

The facility performs 5–25 procedures daily across 2 suites. Common procedures include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, bronchs, EUS, and PEG procedures.

On-call responsibilities include:

• Weeknight call rotated with other staff, with a 30-minute response time requirement
• Weekend call typically runs from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the following morning
• Holiday call rotated with the expectation of covering 1 major and 1 minor holiday

You will not float outside the Endoscopy/GI lab, though travel between the facility's 2 campuses (7 minutes apart) may be required. OR scrubs are provided.

The facility uses the Cerner charting system. No block scheduling is available.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of endoscopy experience
• Experience with procedural sedation
• Call experience
• Active ACLS and BLS certifications

This is a 91-day assignment with a start date of November 9, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,335 for a 3x12 schedule.
